I live 20 km from Braås and got friends that works there and they say its very good workplace and good pay. I work with repare and service of this tip of machines. Its mighty vehicles to drive and work with.
Fun fact: At 22:15, they are referring to a unit called/named "Vendela". The unit turns the object 90 degrees. "Vend" means turning something in Swedish :) Nice pun there, Volvo!

I started off driving a Volvo 861, then a 5350 and finished up on an A 30. They would literally go anywhere. I also drove a Bell 40 ton, there was no shortage of power from it's Scania V8 💪
I forgot, but I also drove a Terex for a while. I liked it's Cummins engine. It would start immediately regardless of how cold it was outside. The only negative I thought was when in auto, it would drop down too low in the revs before it would shift down instead of staying IN the power. Maybe it just needed to be calibrated or something. Still, was better than sitting in the 861 with it's broken manifold 🙉 😂

I’m surprised what an engineering challenge it has been. I remember DJB producing 50t articulated haulers in the 80’s with the 550. This is obviously much more sophisticated but not that much of a stretch for an extra 5t surely
10:55 hydraulic cylinders or actuators, not pumps. There is a pump but you're looking at the actuator side non the pump side there, the pump is in the engine bay and supplies pressure, the actuator does the actual work.

First of all this video is from 2015 which means so has Volvo at this point. Also the Volvo is technically slightly heavier and larger with a GT of 98,7t vs 97,5t for the Bell.

In countries where healthcare is free, the state makes sure workers don't get sick due to working conditions that could be made better - it saves the state money and the workers their health and wellbeing. Companies like Volvo just add the cost to the price.
Many people here in the states will either make fun of PPE or complain about how it is annoying to use. Eye and hearing protection is becoming more common now but respirators are still a "forget-about-it" especially a fancy positive pressure system that they have in this factory.

well I worked in a phosphate mine for about 13 years. Throughout that time I drove 20 or 30 different A40s, A45s and and a handful of A60s. We would have around 60 different trucks running back and forth all day. Some of the other drivers were young , heavy footed guys that would drive pretty recklessly because to them , it became a competition on who was the fastest and who got the most loads. I’ve seen about 5 different people take turns about twice the safe speed. Also Intentionally trying to “drift” or slide the back end out and it would send the bed and sometimes the cab over on its side.
I'm thinking the same thing. If you get too political/corporate with it you will eventually turn away high skill experienced workers for the sake of must have 50/50 split no matter what.

The autonomous loader may be fine in some circumstances, but it’s absolutely NOT practical for mining. The downtime of a unit for recharge versus an internal combustion engine in maintenance and downtime will cost more money in the long run. With only an 8 hour runtime a company would require a greater amount of units to just to keep up with operational demand in addition to more facilities for storage and maintenance which in turn would cost more money as well. In addition autonomous vehicles and fully electric vehicles are currently still in their infancy and are nowhere near reliable enough to be practical at this point.
Have you ever heard of batteries? Do you have any ideea how they work? Do you even know how companies operate electric fleets? Or you didnt find anything else to hate on and settled on this? Articulated truck are made to travel challenging terrains. It's why articulated truck will likely not get any bigger since weight is very detrimental on soft ground. The Belaz at 500 tons is just not as capable to travel through anything but very hard ground.
People are not machines, thee should not be quotas for hiring. Woman are just as capable so they should be hired on merit not their gender (old definition).
The quotas has more to do with addressing psychological bias or coercions i.e. culturally women being told to avoid manual work and look for desk jobs because they're delicate flowers.

train locomotives have shown that electricity is reliable enough. Throw a giant diesel generator on it and you have no runtime issues.
